But in the final weeks leading up to her wedding in Charleston, the former Olympic figure skater is still finalizing important details with assistance from Wedding Wire, a service that helped her pick food, flower and design vendors for the big day. “I probably should have started planning much earlier,” the bride-to-be, 34, tells PEOPLE. “It took me a long time to do research and decide who would really fit my needs and understand my aesthetic. “At this point, most of the planning is done — now I can’t wait for the big day!” Cru Catering Lipinski selected an extensive menu curated by Cru Catering for her guests, that will include apps, a seated dinner and a special late night menu — all with a decidedly Southern flair. Highlights include chicken and waffles two ways (fried chicken in a waffle cone with maple bacon remoulade and fried chicken on mini waffles) for an appetizer and local fish as a main course. “I wanted to incorporate the city into the menu, so we’re featuring fresh, local fish,” explains Lipinski. “And for sides we have ultimate comfort foods like mac and cheese.” Cru Catering But her favorite item on the menu is a bit… boozier. “Chocolate milkshakes with Kahlúa!’ says Lipinski with a laugh. “They will be served as a late night snack with french fries.” The athlete-turned-sports-commentator’s floral arrangements are designed by Jackson Durham Events. “I had a vision, because I love a very soft romantic palette so lots of creams, light colors, touches of green with flowers,” says Lipinski. “So we have orchids and roses on roses on roses.” FROM COINAGE: Tips for Planning a Wedding on a Budget Guests will also enjoy “tons” of white hydrangeas arranged on each table. “I’m stunned by how beautiful it is,’ says Lipinski. “We’ll also incorporate lanterns and arches to give the wedding an ultra-romantic vibe.” Jasmine Michelle Designs And speaking of romantic, Lipinski worked with Jasmin Michelle Designs to create the ultimate dreamy wedding invite with lace and gold foiling. “We did a really pretty laser cut with lace over the actual light blue invitations,” says Lipinski. “You can probably tell the theme here: Romance!” “She also did beautiful table cards on a silk panel with acrylic applicant and a table number written on the middle.” Jasmine Michelle Designs Lipinski’s fiancé didn’t take a backseat on the planning, either. “He’s been great through the process,” she says of Kapostasy. “He was great with research and he would come in at the times he needed to come in. He is easy going and we work so well together.” Lipinski adds that he is a big IPA beer fan, so she’ll have some special Cleveland brews flown in just for him. “I keep being like, ‘Is it here yet? Is the wedding here?’ ” she says. “I can’t wait.”
