An unlikely source of medal-winning inspiration!

Olympics superfan Leslie Jones is famous for her unwavering and hilarious support of Team USA on Twitter — and on the sidelines in Pyeongchang for the 2018 Winter Olympics.

On top of cheering on the athletes and offering words of support, she also served as an inspiration behind Alex and Maia Shibutani’s bronze medal win in ice dancing.

“Leslie Jones was amazing during the Olympics,” Maia, 23, tells PEOPLE Now.

Alex added: “We saw her before our last skate actually, and that was one of the things that kind of snapped us into just enjoying the moment.”

“We were waiting for our moment for our names to be called before we competed and we just spotted her,” Maia told PEOPLE Now about the moments leading up to their appearance on Olympic ice.

“We heard her and I knew that we were going to skate well because you don’t disappoint her,” her older brother added, “She would have tweeted me or something if I hadn’t done a good job.”

Saturday Night Live returns from its Olympics hiatus March 3 with host Charles Barkley and musical guest Migos.
