Wood sculpture, 'Benin Crocodile II' (Ghana)

According to Beninese culture, the crocodile represents the power that the Oba (king) has over life and death. The crocodile is the policeman of the waters, associated with Olokun, god of water and feared for its ferocity. Anna Yawson designs a sese wood sculpture that is expertly carved by hand and adorned with embossed aluminum plates.
