Silk shawl 'India Ecru' (India)

Subtle herringbone textures are scintillating in a shawl from Uvais in India. Woven on a traditional loom, the wrap features pale golden beige silk, with a black warp creating contrasting bands along each side. The shawl uses both tussar and eri, or "peace" silk. Tussar silk is spun after the cocoon has dried, while eri is a heavier silk that appears like a long filament, and can be obtained from a live cocoon.
