Single Source Spalted Elm End Table

This end table was inspired by a Siberian Elm tree that fell behind the barn. We cut the tree into sections, hauled it out of the woods, and used the portable sawmill to make our boards for the top. We then air dried the boards, and waited for the base to dry out (it can take awhile). We sculpted the base using grinders, sanders, chisels and whatever else we could find to make it look pretty. For the top, we cut 4 boards, planed them, sanded them, and jointed them t could find to make it look pretty. For the top, we cut 4 boards, planed them, sanded them, and jointed them to make a square. We wanted a round top for this end table as it seemed to flow more naturally, so we cut the top using a band saw. Then we sanded. Then we sanded some more. We torched the base and top as usual to bring out the grain. We hope you like this table and we would love to make one for you.
