Royals William and Kate Meet LeBron James – and Get a Gift for Baby George The couple received a Cavaliers jersey for themselves and George, also some cupcakes By Simon Perry Published on December 9, 2014 09:00 AM Share Tweet Pin Email Photo: Tim Rooke/Getty Prince William and Kate may be lighting up New York wherever they go, but not far from their thoughts is little Prince George, who is home in the U.K. with his nanny. Case in point: During Monday night’s Brooklyn Nets-Cleveland Cavaliers game at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center (did anyone even notice the Cavaliers won, 110-88?), the royal couple met the Cavaliers’ LeBron James, a.k.a. “King James.” During their post-game encounter, which followed by about 20 minutes the couple’s meeting Beyoncé and Jay Z, the basketball great presented a special Cavaliers jersey for the 16-month-old prince emblazoned with the name “George” and the number “1.” Looking delighted, Kate and William received an adult-sized one, too, theirs with the slogan “Cambridge 7.” James also gave the couple cupcakes from his hometown of Akron, Ohio. Amid the hubbub surrounding them in the downstairs area of the arena, William and Kate chatted with James about the game, and he thanked them for coming. William said the experience was “good, really good. It was our first time.” So was his visit to the White House earlier Monday. “It was quite daunting,” William said of his meeting with President Obama. James – who later told his Instagram followers: “Wow what an Honor! This game has brought me so much and I’ll never take it for granted! The King, “Duke & Duchess. #Royalty #StriveForGreatness #RWTW #LRMR #Klutch” – also appeared to joke with William about their mutually big feet. The hoopster asked the prince his shoe size. William’s response: “Half the size of yours.” The Royals Take N.Y.C.! Details on William and Kate’s Big Apple Trip
