'He Is Not Here for the Public to Make Fun of' — Tourist Scolded for Throwing Glove at Queen's Guard
A tourist at the Tower of London has been scolded for allegedly throwing her glove towards a Queen’s Guard soldier in an attempt to get him to move.
The woman was caught on camera being chided by a London Beefeater (guardians of the Tower of London) after the incident.
“Did you just throw your glove over? Why did you do that? The Army’s here to protect the crown jewels, he is not here for the public to make fun of,” he tells her in a video taken by a fellow tourist.
The Beefeater, whose job it is to guard and protect the Tower of London, then says: “He’s a soldier, he serves his country, he deserves to be treated with a little respect.”
“Throwing your gloves at him isn’t going to work, is it really?” he continues.
After disciplining the tourist, he then climbs over the railing to retrieve the woman’s glove.
The Queen’s Guard, who are stationed outside royal residencies, are known for their famously stoic behavior — making them the victims of tourist pranks and antics.
But be warned — they are highly-trained combat soldiers! They can detain troublesome tourists, and raising their gun is said to be a “final warning.”
