Princess Beatrice

Princess Beatrice, the most recent royal to get married, wed Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi on July 17, 2020, in a secret romantic ceremony.

For her special day, Beatrice, 31, wore the Queen Mary diamond fringe tiara, which was worn by grandmother Queen Elizabeth for her 1947 wedding ceremony to Prince Philip.

"The Queen saved this grand tiara specifically for Beatrice. It was always reserved for her as they are exceptionally close," a source told PEOPLE of the historic tiara, calling it "arguably the most sentimental [piece] lent from the Queen yet."

The princess wore a vintage ivory Peau de Soie taffeta dress by Norman Hartnell from the Queen. The designer had crafted Elizabeth's WWII-era wedding gown.

Princess Eugenie

When Princess Eugenie wed Jack Brooksbank in 2018, royal watchers were surprised to she borrowed the Greville Emerald Kokoshnik Tiara, commonly referred to as the Boucheron Tiara, from the Queen.

Many had speculated Eugenie, 30, would wear the York Diamond Tiara, which her mother Sarah "Fergie" Ferguson wore at her wedding to Prince Andrew.

The Boucheron Tiara was made by Boucheron for Dame Margaret Helen Greville in 1919 in the fashionable "kokoshnik" style popularized in the Russian Imperial Court.

It is made of brilliant and rose-cut diamonds pavé set in platinum, with six emeralds on either side. The tiara was bequeathed by Mrs. Greville to Queen Elizabeth in 1942.

Meghan Markle

Meghan Markle also wore a tiara straight from the Queen's jewelry vault when she tied the knot with Prince Harry in May 2018.

The Duchess of Sussex wore the Queen Mary Diamond Bandeau.

According to Kensington Palace, the English tiara, which features diamonds set in platinum, was made in 1932 and features a center detachable brooch made of ten diamonds dating back to 1893.

The tiara is "formed as a flexible band of eleven sections, pierced with interlaced ovals and pavé set with large and small brilliant diamonds."

Zara Tindall

The daughter of Princess Anne and Mark Phillips married Mike Tindall on July 30, 2011 — eight years after they first met in 2003.

For their Scotland nuptials, Zara, 39, wore the Meander Tiara, loaned to her by her mother Princess Anne.

The glittering tiara was originally a wedding gift to then-Princess Elizabeth from her mother-in-law, Princess Alice of Greece and Denmark. The Queen later passed it down to her own daughter, Princess Anne, in the 1970s.

The Meander Tiara is fashioned in the classical Greek "key pattern," while featuring a large brilliant-cut diamond in the center surrounded by a diamond wreath.

Kate Middleton

For Kate Middleton's April 29, 2011, nuptials to Prince William, Kate wore a glittering diamond design straight from Queen Elizabeth's personal collection.

The Duchess of Cambridge, 38, walked down the aisle at the Westminster Abbey with a 1936 Cartier Halo Tiara, also called the Cartier Scroll Tiara.

The Queen was given the headpiece as an 18th birthday gift from her mother (the Queen Mother herself was given the tiara by Elizabeth's father King George VI in 1936).

Sophie, Countess of Wessex

For her wedding to Prince Edward in 1999, Sophie, Countess of Wessex, wore the Anthemion Tiara.

The sparkling tiara came from the Queen's private jewelry collection and was given to Sophie for her wedding day. She has been seen wearing the headpiece on several occasions following her nuptials.

Sophie's diadem seems to be named after its anthemion design, consisting of radiating petals, which was created by the ancient Greeks.

Princess Diana

When Princess Diana married Prince Charles on July 29, 1981, she turned to her own aristocratic family's archives when it came to selecting her iconic headpiece.

The Spencer Tiara features a combination of different pieces of jewelry that hold special meaning to her family. The central part of the tiara was given as a wedding present to Lady Cynthia Hamilton (Diana's grandmother) when she married Albert, Viscount Althorp, the future 7th Earl Spencer, in 1919. The topper was given to Cynthia by Albert's great aunt, Lady Sarah Isabella Spencer, who died later that year.

Following Diana's wedding, the piece became a popular wedding tiara for the Spencer family: Diana's sisters – Lady Sarah and Jane, Baroness Fellowes – both wore the sparkler for their wedding days and Victoria Lockwood, who was the first wife of Diana's brother Charles, wore it when she married into the famed aristocratic family in 1989.

Princess Anne

For her wedding to Mark Phillips in 1973, Princess Anne also wore the stunning Queen Mary diamond fringe tiara.

The headpiece is also commonly referred to as the King George III Fringe Tiara or the Hanoverian Fringe Tiara.

Princess Margaret

On May 6, 1960, Princess Margaret wore the Poltimore Tiara while marrying Antony Armstrong-Jones.

The bold tiara was originally made in 1870 by Garrard for Lady Florence Poltimore, the wife of the second Baron Poltimore, who was the treasurer for Queen Victoria's household from 1872 to 1874.

Per a report by Town and Country, the headpiece was reportedly bought by the royal family during an auction in January 1959.

"It was purchased for [Margaret] at auction in January 1959. It is not absolutely clear whether Margaret, her sister the Queen, or her mother actually paid for it," Mahnaz Ispahani Bartos, a vintage jewelry dealer and scholar told the outlet. "Once bought, Margaret couldn't wait to wear it."

Queen Elizabeth II

The Queen Mary diamond fringe tiara was first worn down the aisle atop Queen Elizabeth II as she married Philip Mountbatten on Nov. 20, 1947.

The stunning piece of jewelry was originally made for Queen Mary, the grandmother of Queen Elizabeth, in 1919, by Garrard.

It consists of rows of diamond spikes in a fringe pattern, and can also be worn as a necklace.

On the Queen's wedding day, the headpiece famously snapped in half as the hairdresser was securing it to her veil, Vogue reported.

Luckily, the royal jewelry house was on standby and the tiara was taken to the Garrard workshop where it was welded back together and returned to the princess just in time for her to wear it down the aisle.
