As if a chance to tweet for the queen wasn't enough, the position also offers free lunch
The Queen is hiring!
Queen Elizabeth II is looking for an “innovative,” social media savvy expert to lead the digital engagement team at Buckingham Palace, according to a job ad posted on the official website of the British Monarchy.
“It’s about never standing still and finding new ways to maintain The Queen’s presence in the public eye and on the world stage,” the job description states.
The permanent position calls for 37.5 hours of work per week and boasts a salary of 45,000 – 50,000 pounds – or $65,000 – $72,000 – a year.
As if a chance to tweet for the Queen wasn’t enough, the position includes a benefit package promising 33 days of annual leave (that includes bank holidays) and free lunch.
“Whether you’re covering a state visit, award ceremony or a royal engagement, you’ll make sure our digital channels consistently spark interest and reach a range of audiences,” the job description states.
The “digital engagement” commander would likely man the Queen’s social media presence, including her Twitter following of more than 2 million people.
Her majesty was showered with celebratory wishes on the streets around Windsor Castle on her milestone birthday.
That evening, she lit the first of more than 1,000 beacons to criss cross the country in honor of her 90th year before heading to a private party with family and close friends.
During their visit to Windsor Castle the pair presented the queen a rectangular box wrapped in gold paper and embossed with the presidential seal.
Inside the box was a custom photo album chronicling the Queen’s visits with U.S. Presidents and First Ladies.
