Royals Royal Baby's Name and Sex: Bookmakers Taking Bets "The Royal Baby betting frenzy is back in full swing," says Jessica Bridge of Ladbrokes By Monique Jessen and Simon Perry Published on September 8, 2014 08:40 AM Share Tweet Pin Email Photo: Scott Heppell/AP The bets are on! On the same day that the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge shared their happy news that Kate is pregnant with their second child, bookmakers are already taking wagers on everything from the child’s sex to his or her prospective name. According to U.K. bookmakers Ladbrokes, Prince George is more likely to be joined by a baby brother, with odds of 4:5 in comparison to an even money shot for a baby sister. James (Kate’s brother’s name) is the early favorite for a first name, with odds at 6:1. Arthur, Elizabeth and Victoria are the next most likely options, at 8:1. “The Royal Baby betting frenzy is back in full swing,” says Jessica Bridge of Ladbrokes, adding that “with one correct gamble already in the bag, punters are quickly reinvesting their winnings on the couple having a second son called James.” And should be anyone be excited at the prospect of more than one baby arriving come next spring, it’s unlikely. The odds are 20:1 for twins and 100:1 for triplets! Want more stories like this? Sign up for our newsletter and other special offers: sign me up Thank you for signing up!
