Now the royal birth is official!

After first announcing the birth of Princess Kate and Prince William‘s second child (and first daughter) through Kensington Palace’s official Instagram and Twitter accounts on Saturday, the royals gave a nod to tradition by posting the official birth announcement in front of Buckingham Palace.

Staffers posted the announcement, signed by Kate’s medical team, on a wooden easel on the forecourt of the palace, allowing well-wishers who had gathered outside the palace gates to read the official announcement.

All royal births are announced via the famous palace easel, including Prince George’s arrival in July 2013.
