All eyes were on the royal couple at the Swedish Sports Gala on Monday at the Ericsson Globe Arena in Stockholm.
Princess Sofia, 31, who is due to give birth in April, looked stunning in a collared navy long sleeve gown while her husband Prince Carl Philip, 36, was dashing in a black tuxedo and bow tie.
Their newborn will be fifth in line to succession to the Swedish throne, Swedish official diplomatic sources confirmed to PEOPLE.
The Swedish Sports Gala is organized by the Swedish Sports Academy to honor the successes of the country’s top athletes. This year, swimmer Emma Igelström and boxer Mikaela Lauren were recognized.
News of the couple’s pregnancy was announced in October, months following their wedding in June.
“We are so happy and excited to announce that we are expecting our first child. We are very much looking forward to it,” the Swedish Royal Court’s official statement read.
