Have no doubt about it: The royal baby, due next month, will be fashionably attired from head to tiny toes.
Over the weekend, Princess Kate visited Zara, one of her favorite High Street stores, and picked up a pair of adorable baby booties, a source tells PEOPLE.
Browsing the store’s baby-wear department solo on Saturday, the eight-months pregnant princess (wearing a cream Zara coat) took a liking to a pair of white leather and beige suede booties that are part of the Spanish-owned stores “mini” collection suitable for newborns.
“I didn’t even know who she was until my colleagues told me afterward,” the shop assistant who served Kate tells PEOPLE. “She was just normal, and friendly.”
The shop assistant adds of Kate’s purchases: “She bought a few items from womenswear and then she went upstairs to the kids department.”
If Kate knows whether she’s having a girl or a boy, her bootie purchase offered no clue. The $26.92 Leather Blucher soft-soled boots, available in sizes from newborn to 9 months, are unisex and neutral-toned.
Kate has also recently been spotted in Trotters on Kensington High Street, where she often picks up clothing and toys for Prince Prince George.
With George about to be stripped of his title of “only child,” Kate has been spending special time with her little prince.
A style icon who wears both designer and High Street brands, – she recently stunned in an ASOS maternity dress that cost just $63. And Kate already seems to be passing on her practical fashion sense to her future child.
“She does choose some unexpectedly lower-end items for George, which is very refreshing,” says Sue Hill, a children’s clothing designer whose knitwear has been worn by George. “She doesn’t go for the really high-end, expensive things.”
For the Zara store staff, Kate’s visit was the start of a high-wattage day. A few hours after the princess left the store, in came Victoria Beckham.
“First Kate and then Victoria. It was a very exciting day for us!” the staffer tells PEOPLE. “We couldn’t believe our eyes!”
