Was Princess Kate's Ascot Outfit Choice Inspired by Her Wedding Dress?
What's white and lace all over?
Feel like you’ve seen Princess Kate‘s Royal Ascot look before?
The royal stepped out for Royal Ascot today alongside her husband, Prince William, and Queen Elizabeth looking as fashionable as ever in a lace frock from Dolce & Gabbana – with a distinctive bridal vibe.
Those long sleeves and white lace are reminiscent of another iconic Princess Kate look: her wedding dress.
Of course, the wedding gown – designed by Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen – differs from differed in a few ways. The wedding dress went to the floor, while her Ascot dress hits mid-calf. Second, the Ascot dress has even more lace than her wedding look – and a different neckline.
Really, it’s like her Ascot dress is the less-formal, better-suited-for-a-day-at-the-races version of her wedding dress. And let’s face it: A dressed-down (but still impossibly chic) wedding dress lookalike is a welcome addition to any closet.
