Prince William says he and wife Kate are “immensely thrilled” at the news they are expecting a second child.

“It’s been a tricky few days, a week or so,” he told reporters as he left Oxford University Monday, referring to Kate’s severe morning sickness.

“But we’re immensely thrilled,” he says. “It’s great news.”

Kate “is feeling okay,” he added. “I’m going to go and look after her now.”

He was speaking outside the newly opened Dickson Poon University of Oxford China Centre.

“It is early days,” he said. “We’re hoping things settle down and she feels a bit better.”

But, he added, “It’s important we focus on the big news and the big international and domestic things going on at the moment.”

Inside, in a speech, Dame Elish Angiolini, principal of the college, extended her congratulations to both the prince and Kate, both 32, who was supposed to attend today’s event as well as some others.

“Our sorrow at her absence is more than compensated by the greater joy of that news for the whole country today,” she said.
