Everything Royal Bride-to-Be Princess Eugenie Has Said About Her Engagement and Upcoming Wedding
Of the proposal, Princess Eugenie told BBC 1's Matt Baker in an joint interview with Jack Brooksbank "the lake was so beautiful. The light was just a special light I had never seen. I actually said, 'This is an incredible moment,' and then he popped the question, which was really surprising even though we have been together seven years."
"I was over the moon," Eugenie added. "[It was a] complete surprise. But it was the perfect moment, we couldn’t be happier."
Said Jack, who got down on one knee for the proposal, "It was amazing. I love Eugenie so much, and we're very happy."
Along with the bride and groom's parents and siblings, Queen Elizabeth was one of the first to know of the engagement.
"Granny actually knew right at the beginning," Eugenie shared with BakerBBC 1's Matt Baker, which aired in the U.K. on the network's One Show program. "She was very happy, as was my grandfather [Prince Philip].
"I'm not stressed at all," Eugenie said in an interview with her sister, Princess Beatrice, for British Vogue‘s September issue about her upcoming nuptials. "It's nerve-wracking because you want it to be perfect but then you realise that you're going to be with the person you love forever and nothing else really matters."
The 28-year-old royal continued, "There's a lovely quote from Maya Angelou, which I'm paraphrasing, that 'No one will remember what you said, but they'll remember how you made them feel.' It's about how we feel, but also how our family and friends feel. I want it to be beautiful and fun and to bring out our personalities as much as possible."
"My whole house is anti-plastic now, and Jack and I want our wedding to be like that as well," Eugenie also told Vogue.
"It's been the most fun process - I really recommend getting engaged," Eugenie said. "It's all about the future, being inclusive, and our love. We're really excited."
"I'm not telling anyone who is making it, but I can say it is a British-based designer. [The dress] is the one thing that I was really decisive about," Eugenie dished on her wedding gown. "As soon as we announced the wedding, I knew the designer, and the look, straight away. I never thought I'd be the one who knew exactly what I like, but I've been pretty on top of it."
"Euge is amazing," said maid of honor Beatrice in the Vogue interview, adding, "She's a very modern bride."
