It may have been her mother’s birthday celebration, but on Tuesday, all eyes were on the ever-adorable Princess Estelle of Sweden.
Wearing a blue floral dress, the second in line to the Swedish throne twirled around the grounds of the family’s summer residence, Sollidens Palace, with an umbrella, smiled for the cameras and played with the family dog.
Of course, being the center of attention is nothing new for this 3-year-old royal: At the June 13 wedding of her uncle, Prince Carl Philip, and Aunt Princess Sofia, she was as cute as can be in a white dress, perfecting her royal wave. In a photo shoot for her third birthday, she was snapped cheekily throwing snowballs. But really, she’s been capturing hearts since her first official engagement – at just 2 years old!.
Estelle may have been the most adorable guest at the festivities, but really, it was her mother’s day. As she is the heir to the throne, Victoria’s birthday isn’t just an intimate family celebration but a national holiday in her honor: Victoria Day.
For an occasion this significant, Princess Victoria and her mother, Queen Siliva, wore the traditional white caps we saw in the family’s pre-royal-wedding portrait. If only they decided to break out those yellow-and-blue dresses for the festivities, too!
Also making a much-anticipated appearance at Crown Princess Victoria’s birthday festivities were the Swedish royal family’s resident newlyweds, Prince Carl Philip and Princess Sofia. It was the first official sighting of the two since they returned from their honeymoon a few weeks ago – just in time for Carl Philip to compete in the STCC race in Falkenberg, Sweden. The first month of marriage, of course, did nothing to lessen their glam factor.
To top it all off, the youngest of King Carl Gustaf’s children, Princess Madeleine, also turned out to celebrate her sister’s 38th birthday. Most recently, the royal gave birth to her second child, Prince Nicolas, just two days after Carl Philip and Sofia’s nuptials.
But as Princess Estelle proves, whether you’re a glamorous pair of newlyweds or the (supposed) guest of honor on your own national holiday, nothing beats a cute kid – especially when she’s with a cute dog.
