1-Year-Old Prince Louis Shows Off His First Two Teeth in New Birthday Photos (Taken by Mom Kate!)

It may be Prince Louis‘ birthday, but royals fans are the ones receiving a special gift!

After months of not seeing the little royal, Kate Middleton and Prince William released three new photos of their third child on Monday in honor of his first birthday on April 23.

Prince Louis looks like a perfect combination of older siblings Prince George, 5, and Princess Charlotte, who turns 4 on May 2. The little prince has adorable chubby cheeks – a family trait shared by his brother and sister when they were babies – and even shows off two new teeth with his smile! And his blondish locks are adorably combed to the side.

“He really is the most cheerful, smiley little boy – he’s always so happy and content,” a source tells PEOPLE of Prince Louis.

The photos, which were taken by mom Kate earlier this month at their country home in Norfolk, Anmer Hall, also show off Louis’ sweet style. Two snaps show him in a red sweater with buttons on the shoulders over a bodysuit with a peter pan collar by Amaia paired with navy shorts and knee socks also by the kids brand, styles often worn by Prince George as well. The little royal also wears a blue sweater from Trotters featuring a puppy – recalling the striped whale sweater that George wore in the portraits released in honor of his third birthday in 2016.

While two photos show the stylish young prince in a perfect pose, a third image shows that the photo shoot doubled as playtime. Louis opens his mouth wide in excitement, and his red sweater is covered in grass!

Keeping with tradition, Kate got behind the camera to take the sweet photos. The royal mom, who studied art history at the University of St. Andrews, is a keen photographer and regularly shares photos she’s taken of her royal children. From birthday shots to first day of school moments, Kate can usually be found behind the camera capturing her family’s special memories.

Kate, 37, was behind the first official portraits of Louis, released just two weeks after his birth. A solo shot of Louis in a cozy white outfit was taken on April 26, just three days after his birth. And the little prince is wide awake in his first-ever portrait.

Another picture shows the early bond between Prince Louis and Princess Charlotte. Taken on May 2 (Charlotte’s third birthday), the proud big sister cradles Louis in her lap and places a sweet kiss on her sleeping sibling’s forehead.

Both photos were taken by Kate at the family’s home at Kensington Palace.
