Crown Prince Jacques of Monaco certainly made his first birthday one to remember.

Jacques and twin sister Gabriella were visiting a school with their parents, Prince Albert and Princess Charlene, on the day of their first birthday on Thursday where they were given a birthday party. Perhaps in a display of gratitude for the bash, Jacques showed off his newfound ability to take a few wobbly steps on his own.

In November, Prince Albert told PEOPLE his “good little rugrats” were itching to get moving.

“They’ve wanted to walk for some weeks on end now, and they are almost there on their own. They’ve been pulling themselves upright since late August and you still have to hold their arms, but they’re almost there,” he said. “By their first birthday, they should be taking their first steps on their own.”

Call it a father’s intuition!

The proud father, 57, also talked to PEOPLE about his first year as a dad.

“It’s been a difficult year, a most rewarding year. It’s been difficult to try and find the adequate amount of time to be there as much as you’d like,” he said. “You know, you never know how kids are going to turn out. But if this first few months have been any indication, it’s going to be an incredible joyride and an incredible experience.”
