Prince Harry Just Smelled This Baby Gift to Find Out if They're Real
Before leaving Canada House in London during their Commonwealth Day visit on Monday, the royal couple were given a sweet gift for their bundle-to-be: an outfit with reminders of the country that Meghan called home. (She lived in Toronto for several years while filming Suits!) The gift set for the baby included a Hop and Moo bodysuit featuring a maple leaf design, a hat and mittens from the Hudson’s Bay company and Manitobah Mukluks leather moccasins.
Harry, 34, caused the staff to giggle when he lifted the moccasins to his nose to catch a quick whiff.
“I’m sniffing the insides to check if they are leather or not, not because they are smelly,” he told them.
Meghan, 37, and Harry, 34, were quickly showered with gifts for their newest addition after announcing their baby news in October.
While attending a welcome reception at Admiralty House in Sydney, Australia, to kick off their royal tour in October, the couple were given presents by the Governor General Peter Cosgrove and his wife, Lady Lynne Cosgrove.
“That’s so cute, it’s our first baby gift!” Meghan said as she received a fluffy stuffed kangaroo (complete with a baby joey!).
The natural touch Meghan and Harry already have with children was on full display during Monday’s visit when they were met by a boy and girl, who honored the royal couple with a sweet bow and curtsy. The Duchess of Sussex also accepted a bouquet of white flowers before bending down (so low that her coat touched the ground despite her high heels!) to chat with them.
The event was aimed at celebrating the diverse community of young Canadians living in London and around the U.K. – and there was a sweet treat inside. The couple were shown how they make maple taffy using syrup cooled on snow.
“Does anyone want one?” the Duchess of Sussex Meghan asked the 30 children vying to see how many they could eat of the sweets.
She also asked one little boy, “How many have you had? Seven? Oh my goodness.”
