The Look of Love! See Every Photo of Newly-Engaged Prince Harry and Meghan Markle
This moment marked their first official appearance together as an engaged couple!
Prince Charles's office, Clarence House, announced the engagement between Harry and Meghan on Monday morning.
The statement from Clarence House read: "His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales is delighted to announce the engagement of Prince Harry to Ms. Meghan Markle."
Their wedding is set for the spring of 2018, though no date has been announced yet.
Harry proposed earlier this month in London.
He asked Meghan's parents for permission before he popped the question, and also received the blessing of Queen Elizabeth, too.
As fifth in line to throne, he needed the Queen's approval to marry.
Meghan wore a coat from a Canadian brand, Line the Label, to announce the big news, as well as a dress from P.A.R.O.S.H and shoes from Aquazzura.
News of their relationship hit the headlines in October 2016.
But what really made news was when Harry released a statement in November 2016, confirming his relationship with Markle and defending her from the racist and sexist abuse she'd faced since their relationship was made public.
Making such a statement was unprecedented — and was a sign of how serious their relationship was.
They were spotted together in London several times, on dinner dates at the Soho House and taking in a performance of the West End play The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time.
Harry also brought Markle as his date to the wedding of one of his close friends, Tom Inskip, in Jamaica, and later on, to Pippa Middleton's wedding reception.
But it was at the Invictus Games in Toronto in September 2017 that Markle and Harry made their first public appearance together. First, at the the opening ceremonies — though they sat a few rows apart.
They then attended a wheelchair tennis match together, where they entered hand in hand and looked completely in love. No wonder — they announced their engagement just over two months later!
After a brief photocall, the two headed back inside Kensington Palace. They will sit down for an interview with the BBC on Monday afternoon.
