Don't Make Him Do 'the Face'! Prince Harry and Barack Obama Joke Around Ahead of Radio Interview

Prince Harry and Barack Obama had some fun before speaking about their common focus of building leaders for the next generation

Barack Obama won’t have to fake a British accent for his interview with Prince Harry — but don’t make the royal use “the face.”

Kensington Palace announced Sunday that the former U.S. president was a guest of Harry’s for a special edition of Radio 4’s Today program, which will air on Dec . 27. The two spoke about their common focus of building leaders for the next generation as well as Obama’s goals for his life after leaving the White House, but there was also time for some fun.

In a behind-the-scenes video from the recording released on Sunday, Obama joked, “Do I have to put on a British accent?”

The 33-year-old royal shot back, “No, but if you start using long pauses between answers you’re going to get ‘the face.'”

Harry then demonstrated a very serious scowl, to which the 56-year-old politician replied, “I don’t want to see that face.”

According to the Associated Press, the interview was conducted in September, when Obama joined Harry in Toronto for the Invictus Games — which was also the first public outing for the prince and Meghan Markle before they announced their engagement last month.

Obama and Harry walked into the arena together to watch a game of wheelchair basketball. When they sat down, they were joined by Biden and his wife, Dr. Jill Biden.

Although former First Lady Michelle Obama was not in attendance for the Invictus Games, she and Harry surprised students at Chicago’s Hyde Park Academy ahead of the inaugural summit of the Obama Foundation.

The Obamas became friends with Harry as well as Prince William and Kate Middleton throughout their time in office. Harry met with Michelle on a number of occasions, including at the previous Invictus Games in Orlando, Florida.

Last April, the Obamas stopped by Kensington Palace for dinner, where they had a chance to meet Harry’s nephew, Prince George (who made waves on the internet for the dapper personalized bathrobe he wore for the occasion).

Harry’s full interview with Obama will be broadcast on Dec. 27.
