Prince William's wife revisits the same hotel where she spent the night before their wedding
Pregnant Princess Kate was blooming in the spring sunshine Monday when she stepped out for a special celebration.
Kate, 33, who is nearly eight months pregnant and wore a favorite designer, Erdem, was back at The Goring Hotel, a stone’s throw from Buckingham Palace, for an occasion that marked the old hotel’s 105th birthday and served as a “reopening” of it.
It is the hotel where she and her family and some of the Middletons’ closest friends spent the night before her and Prince William‘s wedding, in 2011.
The refurbishments at the hotel, including to the main fireplace in the lobby, were shown off to Kate and about 60 guests, who enjoyed a private lunch of lobster, beef and a salted peanut caramel for dessert.
The princess also helped finish the decorating in the front hall, the final piece of the renovation. She added a final flourish to one of the animals on the hand-painted wallpaper.
Once William is back, Kate is set for a busy week in the limelight. She’ll join her husband at two events, on March 9 (as the royal family marks the Commonwealth) and March 13 (when the senior royals pay tribute to those who served in the Afghanistan conflict).
In between, on March 11, she’ll head out on her own to Margate, on the Kent coast. There, in her role as patron of the National Portrait Gallery, she is expected to visit an art gallery, Turner Contemporary.
