At one point, mom of three Kate leaned in as she stood next to the Queen. The royals wore red poppies to symbolize remembrance of World War I and veterans.
Camilla and Kate also exchanged a glance from opposite sides of Queen.
In a black coat with a white collar and red shoulder embellishments, Kate looked moved as she sang along to the National Anthem. In October, she learned about her great-grandmother’s three brothers who died in World War I when she stopped by the Imperial War Museum London.
Meghan Markle accompanied German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier's wife Elke Büdenbender on another balcony. Meghan is participating in her first Remembrance Day weekend as a royal after tying the knot in May.
Soon-to-be dad Harry and Prince William took part in the weekend of activities amid news that their offices may split. “The arrival of Meghan has changed the dynamic of the relationship in a fairly significant way,” author Sally Bedell Smith told PEOPLE. “It is inevitable and practical because it gives Harry and Meghan some freedom to build up their own collection of interests and charities."
Prince Charles put down tributes from the Queen and from himself. He also laid down a wreath on the Queen's behalf at last year's ceremony after she opted not to do so for the first time in 18 years.
