Since Prince Harry and Meghan Markle didn’t spend the holidays with each other, they both got some family time in instead.

While her boyfriend was with a cold-ridden Queen Elizabeth and the rest of the royal family (sans Prince William, Princess Kate and their children) in Sandringham, Markle stayed put in her own home base of Toronto, Canada, with her family.

Though she spent Christmas Day privately, the day after, Markle and her mother, Doria Ragland, stepped out for one of her favorite activities — yoga. It’s an interest Markle inherited from her mom, who is a yoga therapist herself.

Markle’s mother has entered the spotlight in the weeks since her daughter’s relationship with Prince Harry was revealed. In an unprecedented statement from Kensington Palace, Prince Harry condemned the “sexism and racism” that Markle has faced since their relationship went public, and said that even Ragland has been facing unfair treatment — including waiting photographers at her front door.

Perhaps next time, Harry will join the mother-daughter duo. After all, Markle has already met Prince Charles.
