She arrived in a magenta skirt suit by Oscar de la Renta (a royal rewear from February 2017!) and new sky-high Rupert Sanderson black pumps with a gold buckle. She also swapped her usual nude stockings for black opaque tights, and she carried a Queen-approved black leather handbag by Aspinal of London.

She surely had lots to tell her 3-year-old daughter, Princess Charlotte, when she returns to the palace, as she got to meet three principal dancers from the Royal Ballet: Lauren Cuthbertson, Laura Morera and Vadim Muntagirov.

There's another family link to Kate's visit to the opera house. Kate’s great-great-grandfather, Francis Martineau Lupton, was a mill owner who ran the family's successful textile manufacturing business, William Lupton & Company, with his three brothers.

She wore head-to-toe beige, pairing a knit dress by H&M (only $34.99!) with a designer long jacket, the Emporio Armani Cream Cashmere Coat. Meghan carried the Falabella tote by Stella McCartney, the designer of her evening reception wedding gown, and rocked matching heels.

The Duchess of Sussex was meeting staff, volunteers and beneficiaries at her new patronage when Peggy McEachrom gave the mom-to-be a bold compliment.

"What a lovely lady you are," said McEachrom, who is originally from Jamaica. "May God bless you. And you're a fat lady!" McEachrom added, motioning to the duchess's growing baby bump.

Meghan immediately let out a big laugh and responded, "I'll take it!"

Meghan – who was "very natural with the dogs, as one needs to be," according to CEO Caroline Yates – was very taken with one of the pups: a Jack Russell Terrier named Minnie that she held in her arms.

But the mom-to-be, with the reminder of her spring due date, didn't let herself get carried away.

"We can't take another dog before the baby as our hands are too full!" she said.

She carried a clutch by Givenchy (her wedding dress designer!) and wore a gold bracelet that once belonged to Princess Diana. Meghan also traded her usual natural lip shade for a bold red lipstick.
