Meghan Markle has her royal make-up routine down cold, but she just debuted a new look
Meghan Markle has her royal make-up routine down cold, but on Wednesday she debuted a new look.
The Duchess of Sussex arrived at the premiere of Cirque du Soleil’s Totem show at the Royal Albert Hall in London in a rare dark lip.
Meghan occasionally sported red lipstick in her pre-duchess days, but we haven’t seen her in anything other than pink and nude tones since she officially became a royal.
In fact, her wedding makeup artist, Daniel Martin, told PEOPLE that Meghan isn’t the biggest fan of a bold lip.

“The one time she did a red lip, she just didn’t feel comfortable in it,” Martin explained. “She likes to talk and she’s not a fussy person, so she doesn’t want to have to worry about anything.”
Despite her packed schedule (which sometimes includes several outings on the same day!), Meghan has no problem getting camera-ready on her own.
“She’s gotten more comfortable doing her own make-up. She loves make-up and she’s good at it!,” Martin said. “She’s been doing her make-up herself. She’s not fussy — she’s just trying to get it on and get out the door.”
And when it comes to the royal’s go-to look, Martin said: “She likes a stronger eye, her brow is a lot more defined now. But it’s still her. If anything, she’s going to experiment with different tones. But she doesn’t stray too far from her technique, she’s very formulaic with her routine.”
