Royal Designer Catherine Walker Brings the Runway to the Streets of London Get an Exclusive Sneak Peek!
Catherine Walker & Co will present their latest collection during a catwalk show on the streets of London
For the first time ever, Catherine Walker & Co will publicly present their latest collection outside of their Chelsea showroom (PEOPLE took you inside!) in a series of pop-up catwalks to coincide with the annual Chelsea Flower Show.
“We are hoping that the weather will hold when we catwalk along King’s Road – but we have a wet-weather plan and will embrace every eventuality with a smile,” Said Cyrus, Creative Director of Catherine Walker & Co., tells PEOPLE exclusively.
On May 25, across three locations on King’s Road (a favorite shopping destination of Kate’s and her sister, Pippa Middleton), nine models will parade down the busy high street wearing exquisite evening dresses from the house’s Spring/Summer 2016 collection, teamed with elaborate and unique floral head pieces (made from real flowers!) and theatrical makeup, all inspired by the English country garden.

“The Catherine Walker & Co. SS16 collection is brimming with floral references – from appliqué and embroidery to exclusive printed fabrics,” says Cyrus, who founded the fashion house in 1977 with his French-born wife Catherine Walker. The design duo became well known for dressing Princess Diana in the 1980s, and after his wife’s passing in 2010, Cyrus continued in her name. Today the label is a favorite of Kate’s, who often wears his signature coats and coatdresses for official royal engagements.
Princess Kate s Go-To Designer Catherine Walker Shows the Magic of Perfect Tailoring
Celebrating the house’s 40th anniversary next year, Cyrus said he wanted to “inject some whimsical glamour and fun into the occasion,” and timing it with the stunning background of the Chelsea Flower Show couldn’t have been more perfect. “It’s very much an occasion that brings this exclusive London community together,” says the designer. The five-day show, held at the Royal Hospital in Chelsea, is considered to be the world’s most prestigious flower show and will host the Queen and Prince Philip at Monday’s exclusive preview – as well as Kate, Prince William and Prince Harry.
