Felicity Huffman experienced her own gender-bending confusion playing a man who’s undergoing a sex change in the upcoming film Transamerica. Take, for example, a visit to a women’s bathroom toward the end of the shoot. “I said, ‘Oh, I’m not supposed to be in here,’ ” she recalls. “Then I walked out and thought to myself, ‘No, no I’m a girl.’ And I walked back in again and I thought, ‘No, I’m not.’ It took me two times until I went, ‘Yes, I can go in.'”

But the Desperate Housewives star was in total glamor-girl mode in a Dolce & Gabbana cocktail dress at the movie’s premiere at the AFI Fest in Hollywood, where she was joined by castmates Teri Hatcher, Eva Longoria, Marcia Cross and Nicollette Sheridan. “They’ve been amazingly supportive and were all sweet to come out because we have a 5:30 a.m. call (on the show) tomorrow,” Huffman told us about the ladies of Wisteria Lane.

The Single Life
In January, John Stamos will get back to work as swingin’ single Jake Phillips on the ABC show Jake in Progress. And in real life, Stamos – whose divorce from Rebecca Romijn was finalized in March – is enjoying his bachelor lifestyle. “I’m finally really embracing it,” he says. “When I first got (divorced), I was like, ‘I want to find someone.’ And now I’m like, ‘This is good.’ ”

Ironically, expect his TV alter ego to attempt to settle down in the new season. “(Going out on lots of dates) didn’t really work last year,” he told us at Motorola’s 7th Anniversary Party to Benefit Toys for Tots in Hollywood recently. “Jake’s ex-fianée (played by Charlotte Ross) comes back and he’s just trying to get her back and stop her wedding.” Stay tuned …

Caught in the Act
Renee Zellweger, shopping at the Kreiss furniture showroom in New York City. The actress bought a Panama tray table for her Manhattan apartment and commented on the indie-rock compilation CD being played in the store. “This is my favorite song,” she said repeatedly about one track.

Kanye West, hanging out with girlfriend Brooke Crittenden at New York City club BLVD. The rapper was celebrating the multiplatinum success of his sophomore album Late Registration at the party sponsored by Hennessy.
