Durrell Babbs has a limber tenor, hewn-granite looks, and a lengthy résumé of songwriting and production work for artists like Aaliyah and Omarion. One thing he lacks is a distinct identity. Tank’s third CD, Sex Love & Pain, covers each of its titular subjects in turn, via seductive slow jams (”When”), tender pledges (”I’m Coming Home”), and teary postcards from Splitsville (”Heartbreaker”). They’re all competent performances, but he never quite summons the strength to break free from commercial R&B conventions. B- DOWNLOAD THIS: I’m Coming Home
