Last Man Standing

The Killer’s first new studio CD in more than a decade finds him in strong form, his iconic voice still recognizable and ivory-tinkling fingers still nimble, as he barrels through songs both old (”What’s Made Milwaukee Famous”) and newish (”Pink Cadillac”). But too often, Jerry Lee Lewis cedes the spotlight to A-list guests like Jimmy Page, Mick Jagger, and Bruce Springsteen, who do precious little with it on Last Man Standing. Moreover, a cover of the 17-year-old-girl ode ”I Saw Her Standing There” seems unwise given both our hero’s advanced years and his infamous marriage to his 13-year-old second cousin.
