President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump welcomed King Abdullah II and Queen Rania of Jordan to the White House Monday morning.

After the Trumps greeted the king and queen when their motorcade pulled up outside the White House, the two couples had a brief meeting in the Oval Office, where they also posed for photos.

Some people on Twitter pointed out the awkward arrangement of the Oval Office photo, with the queen and first lady standing behind their husbands, who were seated in wing chairs.

“A senior State Department protocol official describes this setup (with Queen Rania and Mrs. Trump standing) as ‘so weird,’ ” tweeted journalist Yashar.

After posing for photos, the president delivered brief remarks. “These are very troubled times in the Middle East. And we see what happened just recently, yesterday in Syria. Horrible. Horrible thing. Unspeakable,” he said in reference to the chemical attack in Syria that killed at least 72 people.

“But I want to thank you both very much for being at the White House and we’re going to have some interesting discussions,” he added, according to a pool report.
