Could Donald Trump be persuaded out of the presidency? The Daily Show‘s Trevor Noah thinks so.

The president returned to his hometown of New York City on Thursday for the first time since taking office in January. N.Y.C. is also home to The Daily Show, so People Now asked host Noah what question he would first ask Trump if the president made his way on to the show.

Replied Noah: “Was this a prank and if so how much can we pay you to end it?’

“And he has a number, by the way,” Noah added as the crowd laughed. “He has a number.”

People Now host Jeremy Parsons interviewed Noah at the Time Inc. New Fronts presentation Thursday morning at the Hammerstein Ballroom in N.Y.C. Parsons also asked the Daily Show host how he would explain the state of American politics to people in his native South Africa.

“You don’t need to explain it to the folks back home, you need to explain it to Americans,” he said. “Because I feel like for the first time, Americans and everyone else in the world are both wondering at the same time, ‘What the hell is going on in America?’ It’s an interesting time, where America’s in a place where it feels like we’re learning about the presidency at the same time as the president.”
