Wildly popular conservative pundit Tomi Lahren entered the “lion’s den” — as she called it — on Wednesday, sitting down for a one-on-one conversation with The Daily Show host Trevor Noah that has since gone viral.
During their 26-minute sit-down, Lahren and Noah heatedly discussed the aforementioned topics, President-elect Donald Trump and media, as well as statements that the 24-year-old has made on her show.
Asking his guest to explain her issues with the Black Lives Matter movement — which Lahren previously called the “new KKK” on Tomi — Noah said, “For somebody who is not racist, you have to spend a lot of time saying, ‘I’m not racist.’ “
In response, Lahren argued that the movement “started with good intentions” but “the moment they started pushing up ‘Hands Up, Don’t Shoot,’ which is a false narrative proven time and time again — the minute that became their slogan, the moment protesting turned into rioting, looting and burning and militant actions, that’s when I lost respect for Black Lives Matter.”
Later, Lahren asserted, “I don’t see color,” adding, “I go after Hillary Clinton, and she’s as white as they come.”
Noah retorted, “I don’t believe in that at all when people say that. There’s nothing wrong with seeing color. It’s how you treat color that’s more important.”
When Lahren slammed Kaepernick’s kneeling during the national anthem, Noah, who is biracial like the NFL star, asked, “What is the right way for a black person to get attention in America? How should a black person bring up their grievances?”
Lahren responded that women have been oppressed similarly, but that she doesn’t protest America. “I’m not a victim,” she charged.
After the episode aired Wednesday, Lahren took to Twitter, writing, “If I was a liberal snowflake I would complain @TheDailyShow wasn’t ‘fair.’ Instead I stand my ground & take it. 6 of 26 min interview aired.”
Later, she added, “I had a great time with @Trevornoah on @TheDailyShow and I respect our obvious differences but common goals.” She also addressed backlash from the viral spot for both participants, writing, “To my fans: Trevor Noah is not a d—– or a jerk. To Trevor’s fans: I’m not a bitch or c—. We are people with opposing views. That’s it.”
Added Noah, “Thank you for being my guest Tomi. Our goal should be to destroy these ‘bubbles’ not each other. You’re always welcome on my show.”
During an earlier segment about Lahren — which aired in September — Noah admitted that he’s “one of [Tomi’s] fans,” despite not agreeing with her. “She’s so good at what he does,” he said.
