Former First Lady Barbara Bush is missing a toe on each of her feet, her granddaughter Jenna Bush Hager revealed the Today show Monday.

“My grandma’s missing a toe on each foot,” Bush Hager said while she and co-host Kathie Lee Gifford discussed going barefoot in the house. “She’s missing a toe on each foot.”

Bush Hager then admitted that her grandmother hadn’t publicly shared that information before, saying, “But she has darling feet, and it happened.”

“And they look cute,” she continued. “I think it’s the second [toes]. Ganny, I’m sorry I shouldn’t have said it. It happened with age.”

As Gifford processed the revelation, Bush Hager started to regret sharing the former First Lady’s secret: “I feel terrible now. Should I be embarrassed?”

Bush Hager, 35, is close with her grandmother. In fact, the 91-year-old once called into Today to surprise Bush Hager.

On Halloween 2016, Bush Hager was dressed up as her Ganny for the broadcast when she received a special video message from Bush.

“I heard she was going to dress up like a witch, so I did too,” joked Bush, wearing a witch’s black hat.

After some playful back and forth, Bush sweetly shared, “I’d only get up early for Jenna!”
