Politics Hillary Clinton's Omission from Women's March on Washington's Honoree List Draws Ire The Women's March on Washington no doubt owes a debt of gratitude to Hillary Clinton, but apparently not enough to name her an official honoree By Daniel Goldblatt Updated on January 20, 2017 07:47 AM Share Tweet Pin Email Trending Videos Photo: Chip Somodevilla/Getty The Women’s March on Washington no doubt owes a debt of gratitude to Hillary Clinton, but apparently not enough to name her an official honoree. The self-described “women-led movement” released its Guiding Vision and Definition of Principles on Thursday, which included the names of 27 women who were singled out as “revolutionary leaders who paved the way for us to march.” It came as a surprise to many that the first woman to win the nomination for president of a major political party did not make the cut. A petition to have Clinton’s name added to the list quickly popped up on Change.org. “As activists and allies, we are dismayed that March organizers excluded Hillary Rodham Clinton as an honoree who has inspired women around the world to serve and to lead,” the petition reads. The controversy even conjured some conspiracy theorists out of the ether, blaming Jill Stein and even Bernie Sanders for the omission. “Hey Jill Stein & Bernie Sanders cultists,” one person wrote. “You can try to erase Hillary from the #WomensMarch but she kicked both of your asses. #AddHerName.” It’s worth noting that Clinton has no plans to attend the march.
