Rand Paul is running for president!

The Republican senator officially announced his bid for the nation’s highest office online and at a rally in Louisville, Kentucky, on Tuesday.

Paul, 52, had previously hinted at his intentions to run in his annual airing of grievances for Festivus, the faux Seinfeld holiday, in December.

“Of course, everyone has to be themselves, and I have my own style. I think this will be a popular item this year,” he wrote on Twitter, sharing a picture of a sweatshirt that reads “Rand Paul 2016.”

Paul joins Texas Sen. Ted Cruz in the race. Florida Sen. Marco Rubio is expected to announce his candidacy on April 13. Jeb Bush, Chris Christie and Scott Walker are also eyeing their own campaigns.
