Dianne Rochenski loves her pets. So much so, in fact, that they have the run of her bed.

Which isn’t so odd, in theory … except that Remalina and Christiana are pet rats, and they can roam wherever they please over Rochenski’s pilllows, blankets and sheets.

Rochenski tells the New York Daily News that the rodents inspire a lot of love. “They both are such a joy,” she says. “When I look at them, I can see God in their eyes.”

Rochenski is one of several rat owners the Daily News profiled. They represent a little-known group of city dwellers who keep the creatures as pets – which comes as a surprise given the animosity New Yorkers usually show Remalina and Christiana’s subway counterparts.

Rats as pets aren’t that much of a curiosity, but rodents running around on the bed? Would you be comfortable letting a pet rat onto your comforter? Tell us in the comments below.
