A good deed caused a California woman to get bitten by a bobcat on Tuesday night.

ABC 10 News reports that a woman driving on El Camino road in Carmel Valley, San Diego, stopped to help what she thought was a domestic cat laying by the side of the road.

The animal was actually a bobcat that had been hit by a car and when the woman picked it up to move it, it bit her on the shoulder, 10 News said. The woman was treated at the scene and is reportedly doing okay.

The wild animal didn’t survive the ordeal. NBC San Diego said animal control euthanized it at the scene because of severe injuries and that it will be taken to the county’s epidemiology lab for rabies testing.
