The Chester Zoo wins the award for the most unique wedding gift given to the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge! The zoo in Chester, England has given the newlyweds a just-born Humboldt penguin named Acorn.

But don’t worry, the royals won’t have to figure out where this water-loving little guy is going to sleep in their rented Welsh farmhouse, because he’s going to remain at the zoo where 49 other Humboldts currently live.

The zoo unveiled its gift to the couple after asking Facebook followers to vote on which of its 400 species they should sponsor. The penguins received over 20 percent of the votes.

“Acorn is quite a character and is unfazed by all of the attention he has been getting lately,” Chester Zoo publicist Will Condliffe told “He’ll spend much of the next few weeks in his nest until he is ready to venture out and learn how to swim. And when he does, we’re sure he’ll take to it like a … penguin to water!”

The zoo hopes that the happy couple will come and see little Acorn playing in his pool soon and that their adorable gift will inspire others to ‘adopt’ an animal, too. Click here to learn more.
