THE BRUSSELS GRIFFON
This breed won The National Dog Show in 2017. Outside of Westminster, this is one of the biggest canine competitions in the country. Could Newton the Brussels Griffon’s big win, mean this Toy Group pooch has a shot at Westminster’s Best in Show — and the blue ribbon that comes with it?
We’ll just have to wait for the main event, airing on Feb. 12 & 13 on FS1, to find out.
THE COCKER SPANIEL
Another Best in Show winner to watch is the Cocker Spaniel. This breed won the AKC National Championship in December 2017. Striker the Cocker Spaniel beat close to 5,000 other dogs to win the prize, so these pooches know how to handle pressure.
THE WIRE FOX TERRIER
This peppy breed has won the Westminster Best in Show title 14 times, more than any other kind of dog. The Wire Fox Terrier’s most recent win was in 2014, so the could be prepped and ready for another W.
THE SCOTTISH TERRIER
This dog of Monopoly fame is close behind the Wire Fox Terrier for most overall Best in Show wins. The Scottish Terrier reigned eight times at Westminster.
THE ENGLISH SPRINGER SPANIEL
Not quite as accomplished at the Wire Fox Terrier, this breed has won the blue ribbon at Westminster six times, making it the third-winning breed overall at the competition.
THE RHODESIAN RIDGEBACK
This breed makes the list because it is Tim Tebow’s choice for Westminster champion. Of course, as the proud owner of a rhodesian ridgeback, he might be a little biased.
