TIME OF HIS LIFE
The C word: Legend is another brave soul who won't let it stop him. Diagnosed with lymphoma and kidney disease in 2015, Legend — this week's #cutepic winner — has survived his terminal diagnosis for more than one year, and continues to be happy and cute as can be. "His specialists are amazed he keeps on going so well, despite the illnesses," says his owner Amy Kreidler of Manhattan, Kansas. "We are nearing the two-year mark and things are changing with him now and I honestly don't know how long he will be with me … I don't think Legend wants to go yet and until then, he's getting beyond spoiled."
It's clear the adorable kitty — who lost his feline BFF Legacy in 2015 — is enjoying every minute on his @Legend_and_Legacy Instagram page, where he can be seen soaking in the sun, helping himself to glasses of other people's water and sitting on bristly hair brushes (hey, everybody has their thing). "I feel I want to just keep him happy and comfortable and live life to the fullest at his age," Kreidler adds. "I have shed many tears as I have watched his personality start to change, especially now. Breaks my heart, but the vets tell me it's not his time. They keep telling me that Legend will let me know and to keep him happy. I will know when it's time, they tell me, and I believe that."

YOU'VE GOT A FRIEND
Some people say cats are indifferent — so how is it then that they are there for us when we need them most? Kreidler, who adopted both Legacy and Legend from a shelter 15 years ago, says she is blessed to enjoy each day with the cat. "He's been with me through everything," she says. "Multiple moves, a divorce and then a move across the country [from Washington D.C.] to Kansas."

IT'S THE SIMPLE THINGS
Treats and hairbrushes are the way to Legend's heart. "I have to keep treats in my bathroom and a brush on the bathroom rug," she says. "He sits there grooming his face while I shower and wants treats anytime I walk into the bathroom." The cat is at his most quirky when he makes like a pillow and sits around Kreidler's head. "If I move, I get the paw and nails dug into me," she says. "And he stands on my chest at 4 a.m. every single morning and makes a funny meow and puts a paw on my eye or on my mouth to wake me. Mind you my alarm doesn't go off till 5 a.m. and I find myself patting his head like I am hitting the snooze button."

PURR-FECT YOGI
Forget downward dog: Legend believes a cat on the mat is much more natural. "I call him my four-legged yoga instructor because he photobombs me doing yoga poses or sits and watches," she says. "He's my little buddy and so special to me. His personality is so loving and caring and yet feisty and playful."

A HAPPY LIFE
What we can all learn from Legend is that it's important to live in the now. "This could end tomorrow or another year from now," says Kreidler, "But, until that day, we stroll outside, listen to the birds, and I continually try to push the 'snooze' button on him each morning with no success!"
