David and Valerie Peters, their niece Sage and young friend Elise had a jaw-dropping encounter with a grizzly bear on the aptly-named “Beartooth Highway” in Yellowstone National Park earlier this month.

When the terrifyingly cute creature crossed the street and made its way over to the car to say hello, the family and friends inside began to freak out.

As their new guest sniffs and claws his way around the vehicle, the surprisingly calm young girl says, “at least these bears don’t break through windows …” – Yes, young child, that fact has definitely worked in your favor.

To explain why their new friend is overstaying his welcome the little girl screams, “he smells the beef jerky!” – That could be it!

The grizzly soon realizes no one is inviting him in for a snack and trots off into the woods, still hungry.
