The season of amusing first pitches is over, but we still have puck drops.

The National Hockey League honored a furry fan on Sunday. To start off the game between the Anaheim Ducks and Calgary Flames, Nero the bomb-sniffing dog dropped the ceremonial first puck.

The precious moment was part of the Ducks’ “Military Appreciation Night.” Corporal Nero is stationed at the Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton in California. He is trained to find IEDs and other dangerous explosive devices before they can injure anyone.

He is a very good boy, and a very good puck dropper as well.

Thank you for your service Nero!
