See how a service dog helped a wounded warrior cope with PTSD
Prepare to ugly cry.
A new Pedigree spot called “By My Side,” published on YouTube on Tuesday, will have you bawling — especially if you love dogs, people and good stories. (If you like none of these things go find a funny cat video.)
Pedigree is calling this the first film in its Learn From Dog series and it features U.S. Marine Corps veteran Dan Lasko, a wounded warrior whose service dog helped him cope with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.
You’ll learn how Lasko lost part of his leg in an explosion and much more. “It was a nightmare,” he says in the video. “I didn’t come back the same as when I left.”
Hope for his anxiety came in the form of Wally, an adorable service dog he received from Vet Dogs, who helped him recover from the nightmare.
“Wally just jumped on me, started licking me, knocked me on my butt,” he says, “having him around has really helped me in the healing process.”
Watch and see why Wally, he says, helped him feel like he’s “not alone.”
