Truck Turnover Spills Hundreds of Fluffy Chicks Eager to Cross the Road
Why did the chicken cross the road? To get out of the way of traffic
Looking for tips on how to pick up chicks? Read on.
On Tuesday, a truck carrying hundreds of tiny chicks through China’s Shandong province turned over, spilling the fluffy passengers across the expressway, reports Shanghaiist. Authorities closed off the road to prevent cars from hitting any of the baby animals, but they couldn’t stop nearby villagers from stealing the chicks right off the street.
Shortly after the accident, curious locals started to arrive at the scene, eager to snatch some of the chirping cargo for themselves. The gawkers quickly grabbed as many chicks as their shirts, boxes, bowls and arms could carry, and then ran off. Police do not have an exact count of how many of the chicks were taken, but they estimate the financial loss from the crash and subsequent looting to be close to $8,000.
While a chicken-induced traffic jam isn’t ideal for anyone, it certainly beats a highway full of angry bees.
