A 25-lb. turkey has been stalking and harassing a 69-year-old Detroit-area woman. The turkey has become territorial on the grounds of her house, and has bitten and clawed the woman when she tries to leave. –AP

Toola the California sea otter, after years of raising 13 orphaned sea otters, died Saturday. “Toola was the animal who led us to the solution over how best to raise otter pups: Let an otter do it,” said the director of the Otter Project. “She was a wonderful mother and a wonderful teacher, and we’re thankful for everything she did.” –San Francisco Chronicle

A 1-year-old Humboldt penguin has escaped from an aquarium in Tokyo and was last seen swimming into Tokyo Bay. The bird has eluded capture because it has been swimming “at a tremendous speed.” –BBC News

A brown bear in the wild was spotted picking up a barnacle-covered rock to scratch its face. It is the first known example of a bear using a tool. –Discovery News
