Two pandas named Huan Huan and Yuan Zi have been marked special delivery and shipped off from China – in their own special FedEx plane – to France, where they will live for 10 years. The loan is a diplomatic gesture aimed to strengthen ties between the countries. –Reuters

Knut, the world’s most famous polar bear, will be remembered in a new memorial titled “Knut, the Dreamer.” The monument’s sculpture, designed by artist Josef Tabachnyk, will cost about $19,000. –Spiegel Online
