Kaley Cuoco’s dogs popped up at her surprise New Year’s Eve wedding in the sweetest way possible: on her groom’s cake!

The Big Bang Theory star’s three pit bulls, Norm, Shirley and Loretta, were featured atop the brightly-colored treat, which was tennis themed in a nod to her husband Ryan Sweeting, a tennis pro.

“In honor of #muttmonday, I give u the grooms cake which consisted of who else?? Norm, Shirley and Loretta!” the newlywed shared on Instagram, revealing the paw-dorable confection created by Santa Monica’s Butter End Cakery (They also did the couple’s upside-down wedding cake).

The bakery tells PEOPLE that the design for Sweeting’s cake came about as an alternative to sculpting the dogs’s heads in 3D for the couple’s main wedding cake. Cuoco herself had suggested that design to Craig Ferguson in November, but it was nixed by the bakers who deemed bodiless pups a bit too creepy. When they settled on the theme, Cuoco provided the bakers with photos of her pups so their likenesses, which were made out of a chocolate-based dough, would be true-to-life. Chocolate was also heavily featured in the rest of the cake, with the large tennis ball being made of chocolate chocolate chip cake, frosted with vanilla bean buttercream icing and covered in yellow rolled chocolate.

While there’s no doubt in our minds that Cuoco and Sweeting’s human guests enjoyed the delicious-sounding dessert, here’s hoping Norm, Shirley and Loretta got a special treat, too. RELATED: Kaley Cuoco: Wedding Was the ‘Greatest Night of My Entire Life’
