Texas Man Tries to Shoot Armadillo, Bullet Ricochets Off Animal's Shell and Injures Man Instead
See why everyone is calling one Texas critter ‘Karmadillo’
An East Texas armadillo is being heralded as “Karmadillo” online, thanks to the animal’s accidental sharpshooting.
The rise of the illustrious armadillo began on Thursday morning, when a Marietta, Texas, man spotted the armadillo meandering through his backyard. Instead of letting the animal be, the man decided to shoot the critter.
“His wife was in the house. He went outside and took his .38 revolver and shot three times at the armadillo,” Cass County Sheriff Larry Rowe told Reuters.
This plan literally backfired when the bullet ricocheted off the armadillo’s shell, returning to hit the shooter in the face.
The man was airlifted from his home and taken to a hospital, where he was treated for a minor injury to his jaw. Authorities were unable to find the armadillo after the incident and are unsure of the animal’s condition.
Whenever the animal reappears, it will be greeted by a new following. After the story broke, Ricky Gervais went to Twitter to celebrate the armadillo’s triumph over the shooter.
Since the comedian’s Tweet, other online animal lovers have chimed in with their own humorous takes.
Wherever you are, Karmadillo, we wish you the best.
